This is a momentous occasion for supporters to gather together in meaningful ways to honor Mumia’s life story and send the strong message that we will not stop until he is freed.

This webinar will shed light on the systemic issues that create and perpetuate a cycle of political prisoners worldwide, featuring law students and activists who will share their perspectives on how “constitutional law – in the land of the free” – is increasingly weaponized to repress dissent and create political prisoners.

This event and beyond is a Call to Action for Justice and Liberation.

The Free Mumia Abu-Jamal Coalition NYC, operating as we have for decades under the leadership of the International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal, are calling for a NYC street demonstration in this critical moment for global justice, human survival, and Mumia’s public access and struggle for freedom:

• the unjust conviction and incarceration of Mumia Abu-Jamal
• the liberation struggles in Palestine and everywhere else under Western occupation
  • associated political prisoners, such as Mahmoud Khalil
• the Mass Incarceration State
  • Robert Brooks (NY prisoner beaten to death by prison guards)

Join Ride With Purpose (with Detroit Jericho) for their ride on Wednesday, April 23, to celebrate Mumia Abu-Jamal’s birthday a day early by creating a special gift for him.

Last year, Ride With Purpose took pictures around the city and sent him a photobook. 

We’re doing that again this year, starting at the Mama Akua Community House and riding a ten-mile loop to the river and back. 

Along the way, we’ll take pictures of the beauty we see daily in our city. The goal is to show Mumia that we’re still out here fighting.

Berlin, Germany

Free Mumia Berlin has prepared special “Free Mumia” birthday postcards and shared these with comrades there.

Soon, we estimate, Mumia will be receiving a few hundred birthday cards!

In addition, the Berlin collective has prepared online publications for his birthday, highlighting the recent outrageous PA Supreme Court decision and detailing its implications.

Frankfurt, Germany

In Frankfurt, on April 17, 2025, at 6 PM, in front of the US General Consulate, there was a protest organized by the local Mumia support committee.

The demands were to release Mumia Abu-Jamal immediately and to lift the house arrest still imposed upon Leonard Peltier.
