RALLY AND MARCH FOR MUMIA ABU-JAMAL

The French movement has gathered thousands of petitions in support of Mumia Abu-Jamal. These will be presented to District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office during a rally and march in the City Hall area.

More details are still being developed but will be announced here when available.

The NYC bus will be boarding and departing from the church at 8 PM SHARP (even if the program is not over by then) in solidarity with the people who would otherwise have trouble getting home in the NY area after 10 PM.

A charter bus will bring people from New York City to Philadelphia for the afternoon rally and evening program.

HOW TO GET THERE BY SUBWAY:

– Take the 1 train to Houston Street, then
– Walk north (against the traffic) 3 blocks to Morton Street, then
– Greenwich Locksmith is on the west side of 7th Avenue South
    just north of Morton

– Take the A, B, C, D, E, F, or M train to
    West 4th Street/Washington Square, then
– Exit the station at the south end (West 3rd Street), then
– Cross 6th Avenue, and then
– Walk north (with the traffic) to Cornelia Street, then
– Make the hard left onto Cornelia Street and then
– Walk south one block to Bleecker St.
– A little to the right and across Bleecker Street is Morton Street
– Walk on Morton Street one block (against the traffic)
– Greenwich Locksmith is on the west side of 7th Avenue South
    just north of Morton

In the evening, outside the church, the bus will be boarding and departing Philadelphia at 8 PM SHARP (even if the program is not over by then) in solidarity with the people who would otherwise have trouble getting home in the NY area after 10 PM.

Some transportation options for those wishing to return to NY earlier in the day or to stay in Philadelphia until later in the evening are listed below.

Demonstration for Mumia on April 24th at the Place de la République in Paris from 6 to 8 PM. Our friends from Together Against the Death Penalty will present a new Mumia banner.

The rally will not take place at the Place de la Concorde (where it’s taken place since 1995) because of the Olympic Games.

The Trade Union of Guianese Workers in French Guiana is planning a militant march in tribute to Mumia. 

The Pan African freedom marchers will leave from Kourou on April 23 at 4 PM to arrive in the city of Remire on April 24 at sunrise. 

This march, under the sponsorship of the International Movement for Reparations (M.I.R.), has taken place every year since 2016. It covers the 70 kilometers that separate Kourou from Remire and is called “tambiko ya Uhuru” , “However long the night lasts, dawn always breaks.”  

It is a Freedom ritual.
