Getting Mumia Abu-Jamal the new hepatitis-C medication
Mumia has been getting better since he was almost killed by the prison system last April. However, this is despite the scandalously inadequate healthcare provided of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.
Instead, thousands of his supporters have been struggling for him over the past months, first defeating the diabetes inflicted on him by the prison system, and then helping him with his skin condition, most probably a result of his unreported hapatitis-C.
Particular caution should be exercised in obstetrics and gynecology, as it was found that Tramadol penetrates the placental barrier. Therefore, even if you are prescribed the analgesic therapy with opioids during pregnancy, their use should be limited to one-time techniques as mentiomed at https://www.morepowerfulnc.org/tr/. Long-term use of the drug in this period is forbidden due to the risk of addiction in the fetus and the possibility of withdrawal syndrome in the neonatal period. If Tramadol is used once, breastfeeding is not interrupted, since the concentration of Tramadol in breast milk is in this case only about 0.1% of the plasma concentration. The experimental studies on mutagenicity found that Tramadol didn’t have mutagenic effect on the body.
However, he still has untreated hepatisis-C, is in the infirmary, and can quickly become critically ill again, since his underlying problem has not been addressed or resolved.
U.S. Federal District Court Judge Robert Mariani has ordered a full evidentiary hearing in Scranton, PA on Friday, December 18, 2015, reviewing the preliminary injunction we have submitted in “Abu-Jamal v. Kerestes”.
He recently rescheduled the hearing to begin at 9:30 AM, possibly lasting the entire day, or perhaps even longer. The expanded hearing will take direct testimony and expert medical witnesses; and will allow us to demand access to Mumia’s currently withheld medical records and to cross-examine any government witnesses. We also expect Mumia to be able to testify, most likely via video conference.
Everything about this hearing:
The expanded scope and public nature of the proceedings
The opportunity to provide Mumia with adequate health care
Raising awareness of the medical mistreatment of US prisoners
Raising awareness of the hepatitis-C epidemic in US prisons
The opportunity for Mumia to access his own medical records
is a huge victory for Mumia Abu-Jamal and for the
movement working to prove his innocence and to free him!!
We need to pack the courtroom with supporters demanding adequate healthcare for Mumia and 10,000 other Pennsylvania prisoners infected with hepatitis-C, including access to a new medication that has shown a greater than 90% cure rate.
We also need people outside the courtroom, raising the visibility of the hearing and the issues surrounding the case, as well as to interact with the press and the community in Scranton.

Actions in Philadelphia
December 9 marked 34 years since our brother, Mumia Abu-Jamal,
was viciously attacked by police and falsely charged
with the murder of policeman Daniel Faulkner.
We the people have worked consistently in defense of
Mumia and forced this government to back off of his
death sentence.
Our work is not done since the death sentence was
replaced with “life without the possibility of parole.”
To continue the work in defense of Mumia
and his ultimate release from prison, The International Concerned Family
and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal
has organized several activities in support of Mumia.
A press advisory was released at 4:30pm on the west side
of City Hall, along with a “Honk for Mumia” street action.
